1. When you're wondering if you can really avoid throwing anything away:
“In painting, you have unlimited power. You have the ability to move mountains. You can bend rivers. But when I get home, the only thing I have power over is the garbage.”
2. When you wonder if your crazy to care this much about the environment:
“There's nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend.”
3. When you feel like no matter what you do, the world keeps throwing plastic at you:
“How do you make a round circle with a square knife? That’s your challenge for the day.”
4. When you're wondering "HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THIS?"
“The secret to doing anything is believing that you can do it. Anything that you believe you can do strong enough, you can do. Anything. As long as you believe.”
5. When you forget to ask for no straw and start beating yourself up over it:
“We don't make mistakes. We just have happy accidents.”
6. When you are trying to figure out how to talk to your friends about zero waste things:
“Be so very light. Be a gentle whisper.”
7. When you question the possibility that going zero waste is even possible:
“You can do anything you want to do. This is your world.”
8. When you need to remember why your doing this:
“If we’re going to have animals around we all have to be concerned about them and take care of them.”
9. When you (and your loved ones) start to seriously question your sanity in trying to go zero waste:
“Go out on a limb — that’s where the fruit is.”
10. When you feel true, UNADULTERATED joy after buying something used:
“It’s so important to do something every day that will make you happy.”
11. When you successfully avoid plastic all week:
“You can do anything here — the only prerequisite is that it makes you happy.”
12. When you figure out a new way to reduce waste:
“Anytime you learn, you gain.”
13. When you're pondering your time on this planet and all the decisions you've made and if they're the right decisions or not and your freaking out:
“It’s life. It’s interesting. It’s fun.”
